IP-Relay, from Purple, enables people who are deaf or hard of hearing to use an iPhone or iPod Touch to quickly and easily call people who are hearing. Like an instant messaging chat, you type your side conversation. A certified IP-Relay operator receives it and voices everything you type to the hearing person. When the hearing person responds, the operator types their words. You watch the entire conversation live, right on your iPhone.

IP-Relay is a federally funded service, so there is no charge for the call, and minutes do not count against your monthly phone minute allotment.

IP-Relay for iPhone features:
Calls: Tap in the phone number you’d like to dial using the large, intuitive keypad. Then tap “Dial.” Couldn’t be easier.

Contacts: Use IP-Relay to dial anyone in your address book. Tap “Contacts,” select the person you’d like to dial, and tap their number.

One-Tap Redial: When you tap “Recent,” you’re presented with a list of recent calls you’ve made using IP-Relay. Tap one to instantly redial it.

Customize: Make your conversation typeface larger or smaller, change colors for your side of the conversation, choose GA/SK options. Easy!

Purple invented IP-Relay, the most popular relay service in the country. IP-Relay for iPhone is the latest addition to the IP-Relay family of services.
